Vacancy for a Land Surveyor with Measured Building Surveying Experience

We are looking to recruit a Land Surveyor with measured building surveying experience to join our team. 

Post:                   Land Surveyor with measured building surveying experience

Reporting to:    Survey Manager

Salary:               A competitive remuneration package is offered depending on experience                            and skills.

Main Function of the job:

  1. Undertake without direct supervision, large scale  topographic and measured building surveys using Leica total stations and GPS technology.
  2. Undertake setting out duties to an advanced level, from millimetre accurate works to pile setting-out and including preparation of data prior to site visit.
  3. Ability to use AutoCAD, N4ce, MBS. (Cyclone and Cloudworx would be a bonus).
  4. Knowledge of Revit or similar for BIM requirements.

Main Duties:

Surveying Responsibilities:

  1. Visit sites and prepare quotes as and when required.
  2. Compile the job brief or receive it from the Survey Manager and plan the project from start to finish, briefing the staff you will be taking with you.
  3. Process high quality, accurate surveys of all types as well as setting out, including complicated measured building surveys using MBS software.
  4. Being able to undertake laser scan surveys and process them with Cyclone and Cloudworx software would be a bonus.
  5. Be fully conversant with N4ce and AutoCAD in order to produce high quality 2D & 3D drawings.
  6. Liaise with clients both on and off site in a professional and confident manner, offering survey recommendations and being proactive in suggestions of areas needing survey attention.
  7. Produce RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statements) for all sites worked on.
  8. Ensure that all quality control procedures are carried out on site and in survey development including checking projects produced by others.
  9. Ensure health and safety is your number one priority.
  10. Communicate with all internal and external project members, escalating project related issues to senior staff.
  11. Undertake instrument checks when required.
  12. Maintain certificates necessary for the work you do, for example CSCS cards.
  13. Follow procedures in accordance with our ISO 9001 (Quality), 18001 (Health & Safety) and 14001 (Environmental) certification.
  14. Assist with the training and support of staff in relation to all areas of site operations (technical/logistics/public and client liaison).
  15. Have a good working knowledge of the industry including our key clients and competitors.
  16. Deputise, when appropriate, for the senior members of the team in their absence and undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Management Team.

Qualifications/education required:

5 GCSE’s grade A-C (or equivalent) including English and Maths.

2 A ‘Levels (or equivalent).

HNC/ONC in Construction for the Built Environment or equivalent. Could also have 2-3 years’ land surveying experience without further education qualification but a proven track record of land and measured building surveys is required in both cases.

Competencies Required:

  • Planning and organising work under own initiative and motivation to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - client-facing work will be required.
  • Results orientated with a focus on accuracy and an attention to detail to produce outputs that meet strict QA guidelines.
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to coach junior staff and develop positive and harmonious peer relationships
  • A commitment to personal development in relation to the company’s overall development

Other information/special requirements:

A full clean driving licence

Competent in all the software detailed above (N4ce, AutoCAD, MBS, Revit - knowledge of Cyclone and Cloudworx is desireable but not essential)

An understanding of Leica Total Stations and GPS technology and how to download them for processing. (knowledge of laser scanning is desireable)

Vacancy for an Assistant Land Surveyor

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Land Surveyor to join our team, working on surveys nationwide. The candidate must be within travelling distance of Frodsham, Cheshire.

Post:     Assistant Land Surveyor

Salary: Circa £14,000 per annum

Main Function of the job:

  1. To assist in the survey development process of topographic, measured building and as constructed surveys both on and off site.
  2. To assist in undertaking setting out duties and any other engineering surveys from millimetre accurate works to pile setting out.

Main Duties:

  1. Set up and operate equipment under the guidance of a surveyor on site.
  2. Knock in pegs, pins and lift manholes when appropriate.
  3. Load and unload all necessary equipment into and out of the company vehicles (checking all equipment taken returns to the kit room)
  4. Carry out basic surveys using the total station.
  5. Process surveys under the guidance of a surveyor.
  6. Undertake setting out.
  7. Maintain and clean all pieces of equipment and vehicles on return from site and highlight any equipment issues to the Surveyor.
  8. File contract files when required.
  9. Assist with completion of site Risk Assessments.
  10. Ensure that all quality control procedures are carried out on site and in the development of a survey.
  11. Maintain certificates necessary for the work you do, for example CSCS cards.
  12. Work with Senior/Land Surveyors as part of a training programme to learn more about all aspects of the surveying industry.
  13. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Senior Land Surveyors.
  14. Follow procedures in accordance with our ISO 9001 (Quality), 18001 (Health & Safety) and 14001 (Environmental) certification.

Qualifications/education required:

5 GCSE’s grade A-C (or equivalent) including English, Maths and preferably Geography.

2 A ‘Levels (or equivalent).

HNC/ONC in Construction for the Built Environment or equivalent. Alternatively could have some industry experience without a further education qualification but an in depth knowledge of the construction sector (preferably surveying) is required.

Competencies Required:

  • Easily understands and follows instructions and company procedures.
  • Willing to learn with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Diligence is paramount, with a focus on accuracy and an attention to detail to produce outputs that meet our strict Quality Assurance guidelines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills - client-facing work will be required.
  • Excellent team player and positive peer relationships
  • Can work to tight deadlines under pressure.
